About Us

Cromwell College is a secondary school with a difference.  Since 1995 over 400 students have enjoyed our highly regarded and popular Apartments Outdoor Pursuits Programme. This has enabled students from around New Zealand and overseas to experience life in Central Otago for their final years of secondary schooling.

To quote our most recent ERO report May 2019: “Students participate and learn in a caring, collaborative learning community characterised by respect, relational trust and cooperation”.  The report also noted the key strengths of our school as:

The broad localised and responsive curriculum that engages students
The positive culture for learning and wellbeing that supports students to learn
Engagement and involvement with the community that establishes effective school partnerships.

Our school motto is Deserve Success and Whāia te taumata – pursue the highest peaks is our whakatauki. We believe that we deserve and earn our success through a culture of respect, courage and the pursuit of personal excellence. A culture of respect creates an environment where we can all learn and succeed.
