About the scholarship
The SGS New Zealand Limited Women in Engineering Scholarship was established in 2018 and is funded by SGS New Zealand Limited.
The main purpose of the Scholarship is to promote and support women mechanical engineering students with a keen interest in careers in mechanical engineering.

Scholarship applications will usually open around six weeks before the closing date. Please read the regulations carefully to be sure you are eligible before you apply.
Entry requirements
'- To take up and be paid the Scholarship, candidates must be enrolled and have paid the fees, or arranged to pay the fees, for full-time enrolment in Part III or IV of a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Mechanical Engineering. Recipients may hold this scholarship more than once.
- The Scholarship is tenable by women students who are citizens or permanent residents of New Zealand.
- The basis of selection will be academic merit, a written statement, and the applicant’s technical ability, professional skills, leadership potential, ability to work in a team, community and university involvement and problem solving skills.
- Preference may be given to students with demonstrated financial need. Candidates should have a grade point average (GPA) or grade point equivalent (GPE) of at least 5.00 to be considered for the Scholarship (see Notes I and II).
