About the scholarship
The Scholarship was established in 2018 and is funded by the DSDH Foundation and the Li Ka Shing Foundation. The main purpose of the Scholarship is to assist and encourage outstanding undergraduate students enrolled in a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Science conjoint degree in the Faculty of Science in Biological Science, intending to specialise in Biochemistry. Entry requirements
The Scholarship will be known as the Qi Anlong Scholarship in Biological Science. The Scholarship will be awarded annually, for a period of one year, and will be of the value of $8,000. A recipient of the Scholarship may reapply in subsequent years. To take up and be paid the Scholarship, the candidate must be enrolled full-time in Stage II or III of a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Science conjoint degree in Biological Science, and intending to specialise in Biochemistry at the University of Auckland. The Scholarship is tenable by domestic and international students. The basis of selection will be academic merit and a personal statement outlining their study and career plans, and motivation to succeed at University. Successful applicants will have a GPA of at least 6.00 (see Note I). As a condition of tenure, recipients will be required to maintain a GPA of at least 6.00 (equivalent to a B+ average) in each semester of study (see Note III). The Scholarship will be awarded by the University of Auckland Council upon the recommendation of a Selection Committee comprising the Head of the School of Biological Sciences (or nominee), an academic staff member from the School of Biological Sciences, and a representative of the donor. The Scholarship will be paid in two equal lump sums in Semester One and Semester Two. The Scholarship may be held with any other scholarship, award or grant as long as a) the terms of that scholarship, award or grant permit and b) the University of Auckland Council is informed and approves. It is the responsibility of the recipient to declare to the Scholarships Office all other grant, award or scholarship funding received while in payment for this Scholarship. The University of Auckland Council, in consultation with the donor, has the power to terminate or suspend a scholarship if it receives an unsatisfactory report on the progress of a Scholar from the Head of the School of Biological Sciences. The University of Auckland Council is not obliged to make an award if in any year there are not candidates of sufficient merit. The University of Auckland, in consultation with the donor, has the power to amend or vary these regulations provided that there is no departure from the main purpose of the Scholarship.
