The Scholarship was established in 2001 and was funded by the late Marylyn Mayo who graduated BA/LLB from the University of Auckland's School of Law in 1960 before moving to Queensland, Australia, where she taught at University of Queensland's Law School, and was founding head of the Department of Law at James Cook University in Townsville. The main purpose of the Scholarship is to support Part III Law students who have achieved academically, but who are experiencing hardships.
