About the scholarship

A Scholarship of up to $8,000 to encourage Māori and Pacific students enrolled in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems or Software Engineering.The Scholarship was established in 2015 and is funded by EROAD, a New Zealand company specialising in GPS-based road tax technologies.The main purpose of this Scholarship is to assist and encourage Māori and Pacific students undertaking study towards a Bachelor of Advanced Science (Honours) or Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Data Science, a Bachelor of Commerce in Information Systems, or a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) majoring in Software Engineering.

Scholarship applications will usually open around six weeks before the closing date. Please read the regulations carefully to be sure you are eligible before you apply.

Entry requirements

'- To take up and be paid the Scholarship the candidate must be enrolled and have paid the fees, or arranged to pay the fees, for full-time enrolment in Part III or Part IV of a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Software Engineering.

  • The Scholarships are tenable by students who are citizens or permanent residents of New Zealand.
  • The basis of selection will be academic merit (see Note II), communication skills, extra-curricular activities and the potential to contribute to the Software Engineering industry. Applicants will need to demonstrate a genuine passion for a career in technology. Preference may be given to female, Maori or Pacific students.
