About the scholarship
A Prize to reward and recognise the BA History major who has achieved the highest mark in a Stage II or Stage III course in Asian History. This Prize was established in 1997 by the Department of History as a tribute to Emeritus Professor Nicholas Tarling for his contribution to the study of Asian History and to mark his work on the staff of the University of Auckland, 1965-1997 as Professor of History, Dean of Arts, and Deputy and Acting Vice-Chancellor. Following a further 20 years of service to the alumni and University community, Professor Tarling passed away in 2017.
