All sections (including request sections) must be completed by the closing date, which is midnight on the specified date (unless stated otherwise). We recommend you do not have two different scholarship applications open within the same browser.

Outcomes are determined by a selection committee and are usually notified around six weeks after the closing date.

Entry requirements

'- The Award may be offered to Maori students who are citizens or permanent residents of New Zealand, currently in their final year at a New Zealand secondary school and intending to enrol full-time in a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (BE(Hons)) degree or associated conjoint degree in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Auckland in the following year. In the case of a gap year, the student must have been enrolled in their final year at a New Zealand secondary school in the year immediately prior to the year of application.

  • To take up and be paid the Award, candidates must be enrolled and have paid the fees, or arranged to pay the fees, for full-time enrolment in a BE(Hons) at the University of Auckland.
  • The basis of selection will be academic ability based on results at Level 2 or higher in the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) or an equivalent qualification and demonstrated all round ability (as evidenced by achievement in sports or arts activities) or leadership potential and community involvement, evidence of financial need (see Note I), first in family to attend University (see Note II), evidence of a disability, or lower socio-economic status, and demonstrated commitment and desire to study engineering.
