About the scholarship

A $3,000 Award for Māori and Pacific students currently enrolled in their final year of undergraduate study and who are enrolling full-time or part-time in postgraduate study in the following year. The Professor Michael Walker Award for Māori and Pacific Students was established in 2009 as the Tuākana Scholarships to encourage Māori and Pacific students completing their final year of undergraduate study to enrol in postgraduate study. In 2018, the Scholarship was renamed the Professor Michael Walker Award for Māori and Pacific Students to honour the contribution of Professor Walker, the founder of the Tuākana programme, at the time of his retirement from Waipapa Taumata Rau, University of Auckland.

Entry requirements

Must be a Māori or Pacific student currently enrolled in their final year of undergraduate study and enrolling in a postgraduate programme at the University of Auckland. Please read the regulations carefully to be sure you are eligible to apply. All sections (including request sections) must be completed by the closing date, which is midnight on the specified date. We recommend you do not have two different scholarship applications open within the same browser. Outcomes are determined by a selection committee and are usually notified around eight weeks after the closing date.
