About the scholarship
The Award was established in 2018 and is funded by generous match funding from the Li Ka Shing Foundation, thanks to a gift from an alumnus of the University of Auckland.
The intention of the Award is to support PhD and Doctor of Education students in the Faculty of Education and Social Work at the University of Auckland to attend educational conferences in Asia to present their research and undertake fieldwork.

Entry requirements
'- To be eligible for consideration for this award, a student must be enrolled full-time or part-time in a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Doctoral of Education (EdD) in the Faculty of Education and Social Work at the University of Auckland, must be within 36 months of their doctoral registration date at the time of application and have had their registration confirmed (see Note I).
- The Award is tenable by domestic and international students.
- The basis of selection will be academic merit measured by the grade point average (GPA) or grade point equivalent (GPE) obtained in the applicant’s qualifying programme for doctoral study, the relevance of the international conference to the candidate’s research, the quality of the submitted abstract and previous opportunities to present
