About the scholarship

An Award of up to $6,000pa to support women graduates of the University of Auckland Tertiary Foundation Certificate who are enrolling in their first undergraduate degree.The Award was established in 2016 and is funded by The Kate Edger Educational Charitable Trust.The main purpose of the Award is to assist women students who have successfully completed the University of Auckland Tertiary Foundation Certificate to undertake full-time study in an undergraduate degree programme at Waipapa Taumata Rau, University of Auckland. The Award is intended for students studying full-time towards a qualification; however, the Trustees recognise that health conditions or impairments can limit a person’s ability to study full-time and have extended the Award in 2023 to include part-time study on a case-by-case basis.

Entry requirements

'- To take up and be paid the Award, candidates must have successfully completed the University of Auckland Tertiary Foundation Certificate and have enrolled and paid the fees, or have arranged to pay the fees, for full-time enrolment in an undergraduate degree programme at the University of Auckland in the following year. To maintain the Awards the recipients must attain a GPA of at least 3.00 (C+ average) in each year of study (see Note IV).

  • The Award is tenable by women students who are citizens or permanent residents of New Zealand.
  • The basis of selection will be the applicant’s academic achievement during the Foundation Course (see Note I), demonstrated financial need, a personal statement outlining the applicant’s aspirations for the future and any special circumstances for consideration (see Notes II and III).
