About the scholarship
A $10,000 Scholarship for a New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident enrolling in an undergraduate degree or conjoint degree or an undergraduate diploma in Education and Teaching in the Faculty of Arts and Education. The Scholarship was established in 2023 and is funded by Gerard Doolin in memory of his father, Fred Doolin, alumnus of the University of Auckland, who had, through education, lifted himself out of the poverty of his youth, and held a senior leadership role at the Secondary Teacher's College, Auckland during the 1970s, demonstrating the value of education and the vocation of teaching. The main purpose of the Scholarship is to support students undertaking an undergraduate degree or diploma in Education and Teaching who have demonstrated the potential to succeed but are experiencing hardships or who may have been disadvantaged due to their personal financial circumstances.
