About the scholarship
The University of Otago Doctoral Scholarship Scheme is undergoing a strategic review to realign scholarship policy with changing needs and better support a diverse, high-achieving doctoral community. Doctoral scholarships are tenable for a period of three years with full-time enrolment, representing a substantial financial commitment by the University.
Entry requirements
Eligible students with a domestic Honours or Master's degree seeking an auto-award must have achieved a GPA of 9 in the final year of their Honours degree or across their Master's programme. Non-auto-award applicants will be evaluated based on research aptitude, proposed project innovation, public benefit, collaboration potential, and supervisory team suitability. Māori and Pacific Doctoral scholarships will continue to be available with settings to be confirmed.
