About the scholarship
The University of Otago Doctoral Scholarship provides funding for students pursuing a PhD. In 2025, the scholarship will have a special funding round for applicants critical to research programs, teaching operations, or those who are Māori or indigenous Pacific students below the GPA threshold.
Entry requirements
Students anticipating auto-award should have at least GPA 8 in the final year of Honours or across their Masters degree. At least an A minus grade on the research component is also required. Prospective applicants should discuss eligibility with their prospective supervisor. A form is available to support applications for this round. The below form must be completed by the supervisor and Head of Department or Programme for the application to receive consideration. Scholarship applications must be complete within eVision with a completed departmental assessment by 14 October 2025.
