About the scholarship

Established in 2021 by the University of Otago and the band SIX60, the SIX60 Scholarship offers students with an interest in music and performing arts a rent rebate to flat at 660 Castle Street, the iconic home of SIX60, a popular flat with students and a tourist attraction for fans of the band. 660 Castle Street, Dunedin North, Dunedin is owned by members of the band SIX60 and leased to the University of Otago for student accommodation. In addition, the scholarship provides recipients with access to a University of Otago recording studio and interaction and mentoring opportunities from the members of SIX60.

Entry requirements

Applicants must be studying or intending to study at the University of Otago in the second or third year of an undergraduate degree in music or performing arts, or be studying related subjects such as commercial law (and management) with an interest in entering the music industry, or have an existing track record in creating and recording music or in music production; and have achieved academic progress in their area of study with a minimum level of B minus average for completed papers (4.0 GPA).
