About the scholarship

Established in 2025 by the University of Otago, in partnership with the Guardians of New Zealand Superannuation, manager and administrator of the New Zealand Superannuation Fund. The aim of this award is to promote the study of sustainable finance at the University of Otago, by providing generous financial support each year to an undergraduate student enrolled in either FINC320 Sustainable Investing or the Sustainable Finance minor.

Entry requirements

Applicants must be a New Zealand citizen or New Zealand Residence Class Visa Holder, enrolled (or planning to enrol) in the intended year of tenure in FINC320 Sustainable Investing, OR the Sustainable Finance minor, and be enrolled (or plan to enrol) in one or more papers (at 200- or 300-level) that count towards the Sustainable Finance minor. The following factors shall be considered in selecting the scholarship recipient: the applicant's academic ability and potential, career goals and aspirations (as they relate to finance, or other disciplines), genuine interest in the theory and/or practice of sustainable finance, employment history, plus any involvement in the community (e.g. as a volunteer), financial or other hardship affecting the applicant's ability to succeed in their studies.
