About the scholarship
These scholarships provide for students who have demonstrated academic ability and who can show significant financial need or have life circumstances that present barriers to studying at university. Established in 2011 from funds made available by the Ralph and Eve Seelye Charitable Trust, the scholarships emphasize education. Eve Seelye came to New Zealand as a refugee from Austria, and her family escaped from the Holocaust. The scholarship supports students intending to enroll or who have enrolled for the first time for first-year full-time degree-level undergraduate study at the University of Otago.
Entry requirements
Applicants must be New Zealand citizens, New Zealand Residence Class Visa Holders, Australian citizens, or Australian permanent residents with domestic fee status; or international students who have completed Year 12 and/or are in the process of completing Year 13 at a New Zealand school. Applicants must also have significant financial need or life circumstances which present barriers to studying at university and must have achieved NCEA Level 2 endorsed with merit, or equivalent.
