About the scholarship
There are two Science and Music Scholarships to be awarded annually. If the recipients maintain a high level of academic achievement, the award will be granted for up to three years. Applicants should be all round achievers with a strong interest and aptitude for music performance and science. These scholarships will be awarded to a boy and a girl graduating from Southland Boys' High School and Southland Girls' High School who intend to pursue degrees and careers in science. They will reward talented musicians and emerging scientists who also demonstrate leadership and commitment to community, peers and family.
Entry requirements
Applicants must have been a Southland resident for three or more years, attend either Southland Boys' or Southland Girls' High School in the year of application, excel in Science and intend to enrol in a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Applied Science degree, with a preference for Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry. Students intending to enrol in the Health Sciences First Year course are not eligible to receive this scholarship. Applicants must also have a talent for musical performance, either instrumental or vocal.
