About the scholarship

Established in 2008 by Dr Peter and Mrs Ruth Grant, in memory of their ancestor David A. Grant, to assist a student who has demonstrated outstanding ability in solo performance in Scottish piping, and a student who has demonstrated outstanding ability in Scottish drumming. The scholarship provides a tuition fee waiver for recipients completing a performance paper in Scottish piping or drumming as part of a Bachelor of Music degree, up to $5,000. For those not completing a Bachelor of Music degree, the waiver is up to $3,000.

Entry requirements

Applicants must be:

  • Intending to enrol for full-time study at the University of Otago in the year following the closing date
  • Intending to take a music performance paper in Scottish piping or Scottish drumming.
