About the scholarship
Established in 2025 by the University of Otago with funding generously provided by Malcolm McKinnon, this award supports female undergraduate students majoring in Sciences disciplines where female students are underrepresented, especially those experiencing financial or family hardship. It honors Jeanie Reese McKinnon and Avenal McKinnon, both strong advocates for educational opportunities for young women.
Entry requirements
Applicants must be:
- a New Zealand citizen or New Zealand Residence Class Visa Holder
- female, or gender diverse identifying as female
- enrolled (or planning to enrol) in 200- or 300-level papers towards a Sciences major identified as one in which female student numbers at the University of Otago are lower than male student numbers.
