About the scholarship
The S & G Higgs Entrance Scholarship, established in 2020 through the generous gifting of funds by former Chancellor Stephen Higgs and his wife Gail Higgs, supports students with learning disabilities that make studying a personal challenge and who have financial need along with life circumstances that present barriers to studying at the University of Otago. This scholarship is specifically for students undertaking first-year undergraduate study.
Entry requirements
Applicants must be New Zealand citizens, New Zealand Residence Class Visa Holders, Australian citizens, or Australian permanent residents with domestic fee status; or international students who have completed Year 12 and/or are completing Year 13 at a New Zealand school. Applicants must also have a significant disability with substantial financial implications for their studies and have achieved NCEA Level 2 endorsed with merit or equivalent.
