About the scholarship
The S & G Higgs Entrance Scholarship was established in 2020 through the generous gifting of funds by former Chancellor Stephen Higgs and his wife Gail Higgs. It supports students with learning disabilities that make studying a personal challenge and who have financial need along with life circumstances that present barriers to studying at the University of Otago. This scholarship is specifically for students undertaking first-year undergraduate study.
Entry requirements
Applicants must be New Zealand citizens, New Zealand Residence Class Visa Holders, Australian citizens or Australian permanent residents with domestic fee status; or international students who have completed Year 12 and/or are in the process of completing Year 13 at a New Zealand school, or an equivalent foundation level course at a New Zealand tertiary institution. Additionally, applicants must be studying with a significant disability which will have substantial financial implications for their studies and have achieved NCEA Level 2 endorsed with merit, or equivalent.
