About the scholarship
The Winifred Stiles Viola Prize was established in 1990 as a Scholarship before becoming a Prize in 2015. The Prize was established in memory of Winifred Stiles (1904–1989), an eminent violist and the first fulltime lecturer in Performance at the University of Auckland. The main purpose of the Prize is to assist viola students to further their performance studies at the University of Auckland.
