About the scholarship
A Prize for the full-time BMus student who achieved outstanding results in choral studies and made an outstanding contribution to the choral programme. This Prize was established in 1985 by the Auckland University Singers upon their dissolution as an incorporated society. In establishing the Prize, the Singers record their appreciation of the musicianship and enthusiasm of the Choir's founder, Professor Peter Godfrey, the financial contributions encouraged by the late Rolf Porter and the Patron, the late Sir Henry Cooper, and also the work of the senior foundation committee members, Margery Charlton, Marin Segedin and Bernard Swedlund. The Choir twice represented New Zealand in visits overseas. The main purpose of the prize is to assist with further performance and study of Choral Music.
