About the scholarship

A Scholarship of up to $5,000 to encourage the study of German at undergraduate or postgraduate level by a New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident. The Scholarship was established in 2021 and is funded by Arizona State University Emeritus Professor John Alexander, originally from Hastings and now an academic in German in the United States, who is establishing this Scholarship in memory of his mother Evelyn Constance Alexander who spent one year in the Faculty of Arts aged 16 before she went on to become a teacher. The main purpose of the Scholarship is to encourage the study of German at undergraduate and postgraduate level at Waipapa Taumata Rau, University of Auckland.
