About the scholarship

Awards of up to $16,000 each to support women doctoral students to make substantial progress towards completion of a PhD or named Doctorate. The Award was established in 2012 and is funded by the Kate Edger Foundation. The main purpose of the Award is to assist a woman graduate who has completed a minimum of three years of full-time study or six years of part-time study towards a PhD or named Doctorate, to have at least four months free of employment and to remain or become a full-time student, in order to make substantial progress towards completion of a PhD or named Doctorate qualification. The Award is intended for students studying full-time towards a qualification; however, the Trustees recognise that health conditions or impairments can limit a person's ability to study full-time and have extended the Award in 2023 to include part-time study on a case-by-case basis.

Entry requirements

Must be a woman completing a PhD or named Doctorate. Please read the regulations carefully to be sure you are eligible to apply. All sections (including request sections) must be completed by the closing date, which is midnight on the specified date (unless stated otherwise). Outcomes are determined by a selection committee and are usually notified around eight weeks after the closing date. For more details, refer to the Regulations for the Kate Edger Foundation - Dame Dorothy Winstone Doctoral Completion Award.
