S R de la Mare Memorial Prize - The University of Auckland

The Prize, which is awarded annually in the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, is provided from funds donated by the beneficiaries of the will of Sophia Ruth de la Mare, who was a graduate (MB, 1909) of the University of Sydney, and practised medicine at Hamilton, New Zealand, between 1914 and 1938. Her husband, Frederick Archibald de la Mare, was a graduate (BA, LLB) of the University of New Zealand and represented Convocation as a member of the New Zealand University Senate from 1919 to 1947. The Prize was first offered in 1977.
