About the scholarship

A $14,000 Award for New Zealand Citizens or Permanent Residents enrolled in masters or PhD research with the potential to improve the natural environment of the Hauraki Gulf, its islands and environs. The Award was established in 2020, and is funded by the Rotary Club of Newmarket (Inc), who have made the award since 2008 in recognition of the pioneering work of Bob Stewart and the work he had done supporting the Club's work in restoring the natural environment of the Hauraki Gulf, its islands and environs, and to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the charter of the Rotary Club of Newmarket on the 20th of August 1945. The intention of the Award is to encourage and support postgraduate students at Waipapa Taumata Rau, University of Auckland undertaking masters or PhD level research that has the potential to improve the natural environment of the Hauraki Gulf, its islands and environs.

Entry requirements

Must be a New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident enrolled in a master's or PhD program related to the natural environment of the Hauraki Gulf.
