About the scholarship

The purpose of the William Georgetti Scholarships is to encourage postgraduate study and research, in New Zealand or overseas, in a field that in the opinion of the Scholarship Board is important to the social, cultural or economic development of New Zealand.Value/Benefits: Financial assistance at a value of up to $20,000 per year for Masters study, up to $30,000 per year for Doctoral study and up to $45,000 per year for Masters or Doctoral study for scholars studying overseasLevel of Study: Postgraduate and DoctoralClosing Date: 11:59 pm (NZT) 1 February in the year of selection (Applications open approximately 8 weeks before this date) Tenure: Up to three years (The Scholarship Board has discretion to vary the term of a scholarship)Number Available Annually: Varies Applicable Enrolment During Tenure: Applicable to students who:(a) Have resided in New Zealand for a period of at least five years immediately preceding the year of selection.(b) Are of good moral character and repute.(c) Are of good health.(d) Hold a degree conferred by a university in New Zealand or elsewhere, or any other academic qualification conferred by a university or other institution of learning (in New Zealand or elsewhere) reasonably equivalent in the opinion of the Scholarship Board to a degree from a New Zealand university.Citizenship/Residency Requirements: Available to New Zealand citizens and applicants who have resided in New Zealand for a period of at least five years immediately preceding the year of selectionFor more information, please read the regulations for this award: Click here.
