To apply for this scholarship, please use the UC School-Leaver Scholarships 2023 application form. Applications open 20 June 2022 and close 15 August 2022.The scholarship recognises academic and extracurricular achievement of students during their secondary education within Aotearoa New Zealand, and supports study in a programme for an LLB degree at Te Whare W?nanga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury.Value/Benefits: Financial assistance at a value of $5,000 Level of Study during Tenure: School Leaver (First year undergraduate) Closing Date:11:59 pm (NZT) 15 August (Applications open approximately 8 weeks before this date.) Tenure: One year Number Available Annually: Nine, of which one is reserved for a student with whakapapa M?ori, and one is reserved for a Pacific/Pasifika student Applicable Enrolment During Tenure: The scholarship is tenable during full-time enrolment in a student?s first year of a programme for an LLB that includes at least 45 points from the LLB schedule Citizenship/Residency Requirements: Must be a citizen of Aotearoa New Zealand or hold an Aotearoa New Zealand residence class visa For more information, please read the regulations for this award: click here.Applicants must not have been enrolled in a degree programme at any tertiary institute.**Participation in STAR courses, community education courses offered by tertiary institutions, orientation or general interest programmes run by tertiary institutions for secondary school students does not preclude eligibility for this award.Selection will be based on:academic achievement, as indicated by a minimum of an NCEA Level 2 endorsed with Merit, or an equivalent standard of university entrance qualification;leadership potential;;involvement in cultural or sporting activities;involvement in community activities;contributions to school activities;career aspirations and choice of major subject(s); andrecommendations from referees.Te Kaupeka Ture | Faculty of Law established the scholarship in 2022. It partly replaces the UC College of Business and Law First Year Award for Excellence.
