About the scholarship
To apply for this scholarship, please use the UC School-Leaver Scholarships 2023 application form. Applications open 20 June 2022 and close 15 August 2022.The purpose of this scholarship is to recognise and support top-achieving students commencing an undergraduate degree programme at Te Whare W?nanga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury.Value/Benefits: Financial assistance at a value of $5,000Level of Study: School Leaver (First year undergraduate) Closing Date: 11:59 pm (NZT) 15 August (Applications open approximately 8 weeks before this date) Tenure: One year Number Available Annually: Up to 500 Applicable Enrolment During Tenure: The scholarship is tenable during full-time enrolment in a first year of any undergraduate degree programme at the University of CanterburyCitizenship/Residency Requirements: Not applicable Special Requirements: Applicants must not have been enrolled in a degree programme at any tertiary institute. For more information, please read the regulations for this award: click here.Applicants must not have been enrolled in a degree programme at any tertiary institute.**Participation in STAR courses, community education courses offered by tertiary institutions, orientation or general interest programmes run by tertiary institutions for secondary school students does not preclude eligibility for this award.Selection will be based on:academic achievement at NCEA Level 2, or an equivalent university entrance qualification (achievement must be at least at NCEA Level 2 Excellence level or equivalent); andstrategic objectives of the University.The University of Canterbury established the scholarship in 2020. It replaces the UC Undergraduate Entrance Scholarship.The scholarship must be taken up in the year following the year of application.The scholarship is tenable during full-time enrolment over two consecutive semesters of study in a first year of an undergraduate degree programme at the University of Canterbury.Recipients may commence study in either Semester One or Semester Two, but they must remain enrolled at the University of Canterbury full-time in their first year of study in an undergraduate degree programme over the subsequent year.Payment will be made after appropriate enrolment has been confirmed after the final date to add or withdraw with a full refund in the recipient's first semester.
