To apply for this scholarship, please use the UC School-Leaver Scholarships 2023 application form. Applications open 20 June 2022 and close 15 August 2022.The scholarship recognises outstanding students from the Waitaha Canterbury region who are involved in entrepreneurial activities and supports study in the first year of a programme for a BCom degree at Te Whare W?nanga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury. Value/Benefits: Financial assistance at a value of $5,000 Level of Study: School Leaver (First year undergraduate)Closing Date: 11:59 pm (NZT) 15 August (Applications open approximately 8 weeks before this date.) Tenure: One year Number Available Annually: OneApplicable Enrolment During Tenure: The scholarship is tenable during full-time enrolment in the first year of a programme for a BCom that includes at least 60 points from the BCom scheduleCitizenship/Residency Requirements: Applicants must be Aotearoa New Zealand citizens or holders of Aotearoa New Zealand residence class visasSpecial Requirements: Applicants must be resident in the Waitaha Canterbury region, and/or attending a school in that regionFor more information, please read the regulations for this award: click here.Applicants must:be a citizen of Aotearoa New Zealand, or hold an Aotearoa New Zealand residence class visa;be resident in the Waitaha Canterbury region, and/or attending a school in that region; andhave current or recent involvement in entrepreneurial activities, either as an individual initiative, or through a school's Business Studies programme, the Young Enterprise Scheme, or some other entrepreneurial programme.Selection will be based on:Enterprise and business qualities and skills, including those demonstrated through entrepreneurial activities, such as:qualities of leadership;qualities of teamwork;business skills that made a difference to the success of the business; andother qualities and skills.Quality of achievement in NCEA, or an equivalent qualification.Career aspirations and intended degree programme and major subject(s) at the University of Canterbury.The recommendation of one of the following:the teacher in charge of an entrepreneurship programme, the school principal, or a school dean (in the case of the activity being within a school); ora business mentor or someone associated with the development of the business (in the case of the activity being outside of a school).Preference is given to applicants with an interest in business and/or entrepreneurship as indicated by their intended degree and major at the University of Canterbury.
