George, as she preferred to be known, was a PhD student in Psychology at the University, having previously been awarded a BSc in Biological Sciences and an MSc in Zoology, also from UC. Her major research interest was understanding the cognitive processes of non-human species, from jumping spiders to pigeons. Her intellectual talent, curiosity, and generosity were evident from an early age, and she had a range of academic and non-academic interests. George was also dedicated to teaching and was a well-regarded tutor, giving generously of her time and expertise to help other students. George is remembered for her intelligence, kindness, humour, spirit, and good nature, and is sorely missed by all who knew her.
