The scholarship supports students to study towards a research doctoral degree in the Department of Civil and Natural Resources Engineering at Te Whare Wananga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury.

Applicants are required to identify general area(s) of interest for their study from the list provided on our website https://www.canterbury.ac.nz/engineering/schools/cnre/research/.Applications may also indicate interest in working with a specific PhD supervisors (advisors), but this is optional. All applications shall include:A CV of up to three pages.A one-page essay on research interests, research experience, and motivationsTranscripts from Bachelor and MS degrees (where applicable)Evidence of proficiency in the English LanguageA list of academic references, including contact information (phone number and email address)If the candidate is selected for a scholarship, they will be required to go through a separate admission process managed by UC’s central Admissions Office
Entry requirements
In making the recommendations, the selection committee gives equal consideration to: a. academic achievement; b. likelihood of success in the applicant’s research project; and c. strategic objectives of the Department of Civil and Natural Resources Engineering. If, in any year, there are fewer candidates of sufficient merit than there are scholarships available, then fewer are awarded.
