About the scholarship

To reduce barriers to equitable representation and encourage diversity and inclusivity in publishing in Aotearoa, Penguin Random House and Whitireia Publishing are offering a scholarship for one Māori or Pacific student to study the Graduate Diploma in Publishing.

What you receive

Penguin Random House New Zealand and Whitireia Community Polytechnic Limited will cover the course fees for one student for one year. Note: Payment will be made directly towards the tuition fees of the successful applicant. Penguin Random House New Zealand will pay economy airfares for two return Wellington–Auckland trips during the year of study to enable the student to gain practical work experience at Penguin Random House New Zealand.

Entry requirements

Applicants must: • Be a New Zealand citizen or have New Zealand permanent residency. • Be commencing their study in the year specified in the application. • Meet the programme entry requirements by having enrolled and been accepted onto the Graduate Diploma in Publishing offered by Whitireia Community Polytechnic Limited. • Identify as Māori or Pasifika. Note: If no applicant in any given year meets the above criteria, the administrators may, at their discretion, award the scholarship to a student reflecting Aotearoa’s diverse population.
