Whitireia is a government owned and funded tertiary institute of technology, known for its high student success rate and culturally diverse student body. Established in 1986, on the shores of the Porirua Harbour, Whitireia has grown to become a tertiary institution of choice for over 7,752 students, who study at one of our contemporary campuses in Wellington, Porirua, Kāpiti and Auckland. Whitireia is committed to teaching what employers want you to know. Over 120 programmes of study are offered covering masters, postgraduate, degree, diploma and certificate levels along with a number of short courses. All programmes have been developed in conjunction with industry to offer excellent applied qualifications.
Located just 20 minutes from Wellington City, the Porirua campus boasts one of New Zealand's most beautiful sites for a tertiary institution. Whitireia offerings delivered from Porirua include automotive, business, construction trades, early childhood education, hospitality, information technology, nursing, paramedic, social services, and toi poutama.
The Whitireia Trades campus at Mohuia Crescent in Porirua houses our Road Transport programme. Trades programmes previously offered at Mohuia Crescent are now located at the Porirua campus.
Opened in 2012, the Kāpiti campus provides students with an applied learning environment that simulates industry workspaces. Its facilities include a professional cookery kitchen, training café and an outdoor adventure climbing wall.
The Whitireia Auckland campus offers English, business, hospitality, teaching, digital design and IT programmes. We have learning support services tailored to the needs of international and domestic students, a dedicated library with the ability to access resources housed in the main library at Porirua. The Auckland campus also acts as host to Computer Power Plus, the New Zealand Radio Training School and programmes from our strategic partner WelTec.
Based in Dixon Street, the Wellington campus hosts some of our business, information technology and foundation education offerings. It was previously home to our media and communications programmes, including creative writing, journalism, publishing and radio, which are now offered at our Te Auaha campus.
Te Kāhui Auaha Campus
Te Kāhui Auaha is our new campus in the heart of Wellington, housing the creative programmes of both Whitireia and WelTec.
