About Us

Christchurch Girls' High School Te Kura O Hine Waiora is a female only state secondary school with longstanding successful international programme allowing international students to study a New Zealand High School programme alongside domestic students. The campus is located in a beautiful and safe area close to the centre of the city next to a beautiful city park and also within walking distance of a main shopping district.

Christchurch Girls' High School Te Kura O Hine Waiora was originally established over 145 years ago in 1877 by the University of Canterbury as a school to educate the young women of Christchurch. They had the vision that they will be able to graduate high school and go on to study at university. This idea that women could study higher education was ahead of its time and the attitude of empowering women to go on to do great things has been carried by the school since inception.

International students have opportunities to get involved in sports teams, academic and student interest groups, orchestra, drama and many more.

Our International students are warmly welcomed into the school and encourage to participate fully in all the school has to offer, students are well supported by a dedicated team who help students in all aspects of their lives in New Zealand.
