About Us

Te Wharekura o Manurewa was established in 2002 as a response to the increasing number of tamariki traveling outside of Manurewa to attend kaupapa Maori based secondary schooling.  Eight Kohanga Reo, and three Maori medium Kura supported the establishment of the wharekura here in Manurewa.

Te Aho Matua is the underpinning philosophy that drives Te Wharekura o Manurewa.
We are now the only fully registered wharekura Year 9 – Year 13 established under Section 155 of the Education Act.

The students at Te Wharekura o Manurewa are encouraged to develop the motivation, knowledge, understanding, essential skills and behaviour to make informed decision making and actions that contribute to personal, community, and societal well-being.
