About Us

The Sisters of Mercy founded St Catherine’s College in 1950. It became integrated into the State School system under the Private Schools Conditional Integration Act in 1975. The size of the school contributes to a family atmosphere, creating a strong sense of belonging and community amongst students. Girls are educated through the vision of Catherine McAuley, the founder of the Sisters of Mercy, in Catholic social teachings that underpin the Special Character of the college. Students at all year levels have opportunities to be of service and/or act for justice.

Our students consistently achieve well above the national average in all national qualifications and we provide enrichment programmes that meet the needs of each student. We are committed to treating each young woman as an individual, supporting and nurturing her gifts and talents so that she leaves us as a well-rounded woman of Mercy.

At St Catherine’s we provide many opportunities for student participation and success in a wide range of co-curricular activities, both sporting and cultural.

The ideal St Catherine’s College Graduate is a compassionate and confident young woman who is prepared for an ever-changing world.
