About Us

Te Kura Tuarua o Raahui Pookeka

We lead,

We collaborate to achieve,

We are strong in the world.

Home of inspiring leaders, and significant stories.

The Kiingitanga Royal family lives in Huntly and the Right Honourable Nanaia Mahuta, first woman to hold the Foreign Affairs portfolio in government, was educated here.

Huntly College itself opened in 1953 on its current site. The school has changed many times over the years, reflecting changes seen in the town. It is now known as an innovative and welcoming place to learn.

The Ministry of Education plans an exciting new school building that will showcase the innovative and well regarded curriculum in place since 2019. The building design is developed in consultation with our community.

At Huntly College, nearly 90% of our students are Maaori. Most are descendants of Waikato Tainui, in which rohe the school is located. We are proudly a Kawenata school, working diligently to support the educational aims of Waikato Tainui.

When you enrol at Huntly College, you are invited to create the future stories of Raahui Pookeka | Huntly. The school aims to ‘nurture the indescribable light’ in each and every learner:
