About the provider
Southern Institute of Technology (SIT) provides quality tertiary education and training across a wide range of subjects and qualifications. From certificates to postgraduate studies, we offer NZQA programmes for students to learn at a level and pathway that suits them.
We are home to the Zero Fees Scheme and are the only tertiary provider in New Zealand to offer a no tuition cost education to domestic NZ students for every year of study, at all levels.
We offer SIT programmes at campuses in Invercargill, Christchurch, Queenstown, Gore, and online through SIT2LRN Distance Learning.
We also have specialised faculties in music and rural education - MAINZ – Music and Audio Institute of New Zealand (Christchurch) and Telford in Balclutha, South Otago.

Campuses
Invercargill Campus
Invercargill is where the Southern Institute of Technology started and where the innovative SIT Zero Fees Scheme was born.
Since 1971, we have taught the majority of our programmes here between our three centrally located campuses (Main Campus, Te Rau o te Huia - Creative Centre & SIT Sound).
Many of our Students move to Invercargill to study and take advantage of the Zero Fees Scheme and Southland's lower living costs.
Christchurch Campus
Study in Christchurch at our small friendly campus that offers specialised training in accredited and industry-recognised programmes.
Our facilities include well-equipped workshops, classrooms and smaller class sizes to create a more personal learning environment. Our tutors have close working relationships with local industry, enabling students to access opportunities for practical, real-world work experience and internships.
Located in Hornby, just outside the city centre. Free onsite car parking.
Christchurch MAINZ Campus
MAINZ Christchurch is a friendly campus that offers you specialised training in accredited, recognised programmes. Our facilities are well-equipped to offer programmes in Audio Engineering, Live Sound & Event Production and DJ & Electronic Music Production. 191 High Street, Christchurch 8011, is our Live Sound and DJ premises.
Queenstown Campus
Study in Queenstown, the Adventure Capital of New Zealand!
Established in 2009, SIT Queenstown is conveniently located in the Remarkables Park Town Centre in Frankton and has a spectacular backdrop of the Remarkables mountain range. Our modern facilities provide an exceptional teaching environment and is easily accessible by public transport.
Studying at SIT Queenstown brings you the opportunity to enjoy the adventurous Queenstown lifestyle. We have a range of part-time or full-time study options available.
NZ Domestic Students can take advantage of the Zero Fees Scheme on eligible programmes.
Gore Campus
SIT Gore Campus was established to cater for training and education to the greater Eastern Southland area.
The campus offers a variety of courses that are flexible and designed to provide wider employment opportunities, prepare students for further study or allow them to train while working.
NZ Domestic Students can take advantage of the Zero Fees Scheme on eligible programmes at SIT Gore.

SIT2LRN Distance Learning
SIT2LRN Distance Learning is delivered online, which lets you study anywhere in the world. We offer flexible and accessible programmes in a wide range of subjects and qualifications.
Our programmes are NZQA approved, internationally recognised, and range from Certificates to Masters degrees.
SIT2LRN Distance Learning programmes have no tuition fees for domestic students under the SIT Zero Fees Scheme.
