The Southern Institute of Technology (SIT) is one of 18 government polytechnics and institutes of technology offering tertiary education throughout New Zealand. SIT programmes are accredited and approved by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority up to postgraduate level. SIT has a proud history of vocational education and training. For 40 years we have been providing students with quality education across a range of subject areas and at a variety of levels including postgraduate study. This variety enables you to enter your training at the level that suits you and to progress as you are ready. Many of our programmes link to higher level qualifications at SIT and other institutions in New Zealand and throughout the world. SIT’s main campus is located at 133 Tay Street, Invercargill. Our on-campus facilities include a student gym, bookshop, cafe, and support services such as a health nurse, counsellor, chaplain, learning assistance centre, disability liaison, Iwi liaison and Pacific Island liaison.
SIT Christchurch is a small friendly campus that offers specialised training in accredited, recognised programmes. Our facilities include well equipped workshops and classrooms and restricted enrolment numbers ensure smaller classes, creating a more personal learning environment which contributes to increased success for students. We know that the decisions on what, where and when to study, aren't the easiest to make, and we are here to help you identify a path that will lead to great employment opportunities and/or further training.
Christchurch MAINZ Campus
MAINZ Christchurch is a friendly campus that offers you specialised training in accredited, recognised programmes. Our facilities are well equipped to offer programmes in Audio Engineering, Live Sound & Event Production and DJ & Electronic Music Production. 19 King Edward Terrace, Woolston is our Live Sound and DJ premises.
SIT’s expanding Queenstown Campus (established 2009) is conveniently located in the Remarkables Park Town Centre in Frankton, with the spectacular backdrop of the Remarkables mountain range. Our modern facilities provide an exceptional teaching environment; purpose built spaces, plenty of natural light, magnificent views, ample parking, and easily accessible by public transport.
SIT’s Gore campus is situated in beautiful grounds and is here to serve the education and training needs of the greater Eastern Southland area. The campus offers a variety of courses designed to provide wider employment opportunities, prepare you for further study or allow you to train while you work. It offers a range of part time or full time study options designed to ensure they fit with your lifestyle, with flexible learning times and modern facilities. Courses are based on local demand and include a range of programmes from hospitality to computing, Building and construction and art for leisure.
The Southern Institute of Technology Auckland Campus is located on Victoria Street West, in the heart of central Auckland’s education and business precinct. SIT delivers the New Zealand Diplomas in Business Level 5 and Level 6, which lead on to the Bachelor of Applied Management. The New Zealand Diploma in Business is an ideal entry level programme that allows students to learn about how businesses are run. Auckland MAINZ Campus
MAINZ Auckland Campus is located on Victoria Street West, in the heart of central Auckland’s education and business precinct. MAINZ delivers Music and Audio courses from Certificates to Graduate Diplomas.
