About the course

The New Zealand Certificate in Food and Beverage Service (Café Services) (Level 3) has been carefully designed by a team of industry professionals to give you the skills you need to work in and operate a café business.

We have chosen to focus on unit standards that will enable you to work in a safe manner, that will help you to listen to and communicate with your customers, to have the systems and procedures in place that will avoid many common problems in cafés in New Zealand, and be able to prepare, cook and serve food and beverages (including a range of barista coffees). This programme enables students to work in a real café environment. You will be dealing with real paying customers with a variety of needs, handling cash and experiencing all the different aspects of running a café, including stock control and hygiene training.

Entry requirements

IELTS 5.0 with no band less than 5.0 / TOEFL iBT 35 (with a writing score of 14) / PToE academic score of 36 /AIS TEP 44/80 or equivalent with no band less than 11; and 17 years and over
