NZQF Level 6

About the course

Graduates of this programme will be work-ready, proficient and reliable avionics engineers. They will have gained the skills and knowledge specific to the maintenance and certification of aircraft avionics systems and aircraft avionics components and can expect to be members of an avionics maintenance crew who are jointly responsible for all the aspects of avionics engineering required to support aircraft operations. Their duties could range from specialisation in aircraft electrical systems, instrument systems, navigational systems or aircraft radio and radar systems. Advanced avionics graduates will be employable in the many avionics sectors of the aircraft and airline industries: major airlines, airport engineering works, aircraft maintenance companies and aircraft construction companies both in New Zealand and overseas The programme also allows graduates to continue their studies while working in the industry and qualify in specialist areas. Many of the skills that graduates have are also transferable to other areas of engineering, such as the telecommunications, electrical and transportation sectors.
