About the course

Graduates of this programme will have knowledge of the social service and the counselling professions and will have developed literacy, numeracy and communication skills that will enable them to work in a helpful role with Counsellors and or Social Workers. Graduates will have a developing knowledge of self and an introductory level of social service knowledge and skills, awareness of ethical boundaries, appreciation of the implications of the Tiriti o Waitangi to social services practice. Graduates of this programme will be able to consider further study in the fields of counselling or social work.

Entry requirements

Under 20: 40 credits NCEA L2 across 4 subjects with minimum 12 credits English, or equivalent. All applicants: a level of English sufficient to be able to study at this level. Students whose first language is not English: IELTS 5.5, minimum 5.5 in each band, or equivalent.
