About the course
This qualification is for people who are required to work as a qualified deckhand on a fishing vessel over 20 metres. Graduates of the Certificate in Advanced Deckhand (Fishing) (ADH-F) will have the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to perform deck work safely at sea on a fishing vessel. It provides a pathway to higher level NMIT maritime qualifications such as the Certificate in New Zealand Offshore Watchkeeper and NMIT Certificate in New Zealand Offshore Master. Holders of the Certificate in Advanced Deckhand (Fishing) (ADHF) will be qualified to apply for Maritime New Zealands Advanced Deckhand Fishing Endorsement qualification. This will provide employment opportunities within the New Zealand fishing industry as deckhand on fishing vessels over 20 metres.
