About the course

The purpose of this qualification is to enable the recognition of intermediate level skills and knowledge required by the floristry industry.

The qualification is for people with entry-level experience who wish to progress their skills and knowledge in the floristry industry. Learners will benefit by having a qualification that recognises their skills and provides a training and career pathway in the floristry industry.  Students will learn how to:

  • Prepare hand-tied, base medium, and wired floral items to meet customer specifications for a range of purposes and occasions
  • Display and maintain plant materials and arrangements in a retail outlet to maximise their impact
  • Provide front-of-shop customer service and refer complaints

FLC01 Prepare and Construct Handtied Floral Designs

People credited with this module will be able to identify and plan the job requirements for floristry orders, select tools and equipment for floristry tasks, condition and prepare flowers and foliage, for designs, and construct wired floristry items according to the Elements and Principles of design.

FLC02 Construct and Present Wired Floristry Products

People credited with this module will be able to identify and plan the job requirements for floristry orders, select tools and equipment for floristry tasks, condition and prepare flowers and foliage, for designs, and construct wired floristry items according to the elements and principles of design.

FLC03 Prepare Base Medium and Construct

People credited with this module will be able to identify and plan the job requirements for floristry orders, select tools and equipment for floristry tasks, condition and prepare flowers and foliage, for designs, and construct wired floristry items according to the Elements and Principles of design.

FLC04 Provide Comprehensive Quality Customer Service to Floristry Customers

People credited with this module will be able to greet and provide quality and professional service to meet floristry customer’s needs, handle transactions in a retail floristry environment and maintain floral displays in a retail environment.

20696 Demonstrate Knowledge of the Elements and Principles of Floristry Design

People credited with this unit standard are able to demonstrate knowledge of the elements of design, and the principles of design.
