About the course
If you love tools and machines and want to work in the outdoors in New Zealand's forestry industry, this half-year course will get you started. It focuses on all areas of the landing operations.
You could play a key role in harvesting our production forests by working in a commercial forest harvesting landing operation.
There's a mix of practical learning, with some theory, as well as some real industry experience on our own harvest site. You team up with a real harvesting crew to put your skills and knowledge into practice.
You learn how to be safe on site, make logs, correctly process logs according to specific measurements, make decisions about grade and quality, and of course, maintain, sharpen and operate your own chainsaw.
Topics you'll cover
- Health and Safety in Forestry Operations
- Essentials for Working in Forestry Operations
- Introductory Chainsaw Safety and Use
- Maintain a Chainsaw
