Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Technology (PGCertMedTech)

About the course

The Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Technology (PGCertMedTech) is specifically aimed at those just starting, or wishing to start, work as medical technologists in the fields of sleep, cardiology or respiratory medicine. The programme consists of two papers taken over one year of part-time study.

The Postgraduate Certificate provides a thorough grounding in the underlying physiology, pathophysiology and technology required for those working as medical technologists in cardiology, respiratory and sleep medicine.

The certificate leads into the more specialised Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Technology (PGDipMedTech), which is available with endorsements in Sleep Medicine and Cardiology.

The course is distance-taught using internet-based material, as well as having a short on-campus residential school.

Information for new applicants

It is compulsory that students complete the Medical Technology Certificate before enrolling in the Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Technology (PGDipMedTech). The most common entry qualification is a BSc with a relevant major such as physiology or anatomy. Other qualifications are assessed on an individual basis.
