About the course

The Master of Clinical Education (MClinEd) programme develops educational theory and practice to equip you for a career in clinical education.

Programme highlights

  • Application of educational theory to teaching and learning in the clinical context.
  • Skills in clinical teaching, including one-on-one supervision, bedside teaching, small group teaching and interactive large group teaching.
  • Reflection on your own practice and use of best evidence to promote improved practice in your workplace.
  • In-depth understanding of specialised areas of clinical education relevant to your area of practice.
  • Supervised research leading to advanced understudy in an area of clinical education.

Entry requirements

You must have completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Education with a GPA of 5.0 or higher.

You also need to be currently engaged in clinical teaching or curriculum development in a health-related discipline.

In exceptional circumstances, these requirements may be waived by the Associate Dean Academic, or nominee, if it is determined that you have a Bachelors degree and relevant practical, professional or scholarly experience that is equivalent to one year of postgraduate study.

You must have either:

  • a Bachelors degree in a relevant clinical discipline such as medicine, midwifery, nursing, optometry, pharmacy or physiotherapy with a GPA of 5.0.
  • a Bachelors degree with a GPA of 5.0 in 60 points above Stage II.
  • a Bachelors degree, and passed 60 points in a relevant postgraduate certificate, or postgraduate diploma, (or 60 points of relevant 700 level courses) with a GPA of 5.0 - provided that the postgraduate certificate or diploma has not been awarded.

You also need to be currently engaged in clinical teaching or curriculum development in a health-related discipline.

In exceptional circumstances, these requirements may be waived by the Associate Dean Academic, or nominee, if it is determined that you have at least three years of relevant practical, professional or scholarly experience.
