About the course
If you have a degree in nursing or a health-related area and you'd like to extend your knowledge and skills for advanced practice in the health sector, this online programme will equip you with the confidence and skills to plan and co-ordinate multiple, complex patient care demands in your chosen specialisation. The postgraduate certificate in health practice offers a selection of courses designed to meet the needs of health practitioners, health sector managers and other professionals whose practice has a focus on health. To achieve the certificate you need to complete two of the available courses within three years. * This programme includes compulsory two-day onsite workshops at the Madras Street campus for some courses. Please Note:
The programme is predominantly online although some courses will have compulsory on site course days, please check with your course lead during the enrolment process. Post graduate courses are tailored to be taken one paper per semester which is equivalent to approximately 20 hours per week of study, please seek guidance if you'd like to complete two papers per semester. Not all courses are offered in both semesters, and that some courses are prerequisites for others. Part-time up to 3 years. What if English is not my first Language? Overall IELTS 6.5 Academic 6.5 Listening 6.5 Reading 6.5 Writing 6.5 Speaking If English is not your first language, we want to make sure that you will be successful in your chosen programme of study. Please provide a result from a test or qualification on the acceptable alternatives English Proficiency Outcomes Chart. If you are a New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident, complete an Admission and Enrolment form and Ara will contact you regarding a free assessment. If you are not a New Zealand Citizen or Permanent resident, book an IELTS or other test through the Ara Examination Centre or in your home country. IELTS scores used must be taken from a single IELTS Test Report Form and are valid for two years from the date of the test. What if I have achieved NCEA Level 3 University Entrance? The English Language requirements for this programme are higher than the minimum set by NZQA, therefore; applicants who have achieved NCEA Level 3 University Entrance may be required to provide evidence of English Language skills. If you do not meet the Academic entry criteria above, you may: provide evidence of having completed a relevant professional qualification; and provide evidence of successful completion of a relevant qualification or programme of study which is equivalent to those of first degree graduates, through the submission of a portfolio of evidence.
