About the course

If you're thinking about moving into an accounts role, but you need more confidence and knowledge to take that step, this qualification will give you a sound understanding of the accounting functions that businesses require.

It covers: the accounting cycle; producing and communicating financial information using dedicated accounting software; calculating and preparing PAYE, GST and fringe benefit tax returns; managing accounts payable and receivable; preparing payroll and related administration records; collaborating and contributing to the achievement of team objectives; behaving professionally and ethically and in a socially and culturally responsible manner; applying personal and interpersonal skills to provide accounting support services for an entity.

This flexible programme gives you the choice of studying on campus or online, part-time or full-time. Each course requires eight hours of class per week. This is made up of five hours of scheduled classes (on campus or online) plus another three hours per week for an online tutorial – reviewing the weeks content.

This qualification will give you the skills and knowledge needed for accounting support roles such as accounts officer, payroll officer, sole-charge administrator, accounts payable/receivable and accounts assistant. You’ll also be able to contribute to community groups in volunteer accounting functions.
