New Zealand Certificate in Hairdressing (Emerging Stylist)
NZQF Level 4

About the course

This Level 4 programme has been designed to follow on from the New Zealand Certificate in Hairdressing (Salon Support) Level 3. You'll continue to build on the skills and knowledge you've already acquired through a mix of tutorials, group projects, online and offsite visits, led by our expert tutors and using their extensive industry connections.

You'll learn about advanced hair and scalp analysis, the various types of foundation cutting and chemical and non-chemical services. You'll also design, develop and create long hair creative styles for special themes or events. During the programme, you'll create a portfolio which showcases your skills and you'll be taught the professional standards required of an emerging stylist.

Upon completion of this intensive second-year hairdressing course, you'll possess skills in advanced consultations and treatments, cutting techniques, creative colouring and chemical knowledge, as well as strong interpersonal skills.

To meet Health and Safety requirements, applicants must be physically able to undertake the practical components of the programme in an industry emulated environment.

With this qualification you'll have the skills needed to enter the hairdressing industry as an intermediate apprentice.
