About the course

The programme aims to provide specialised knowledge and skills that will enable graduates to enter the aged care workforce and contribute to the advancement of care of the older person in New Zealand. Graduates will be prepared to give full support to, and assist, individuals to meet their holistic health care needs. This includes individuals affected by long term health alterations e.g. diabetes, dementia, motor neuron diseases, spinal injuries and those who require palliative care.

Entry requirements

It is anticipated that the Programme will appeal to domestic students locally, in other areas of New Zealand and to international students, such as those from the Philippines, Nepal and India. In particular, Internationally Educated Nurses who have an overseas qualification in a nursing or in a nursing-related discipline and who would like to find employment in the New Zealand Health Care industry caring for the Older Person.
